President – The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the VSA. Jay Chambers joined the VSA in July 2012.
Registrar and Privacy Officer – The Registrar is an independent legislative officer. The Privacy Officer ensures compliance within privacy laws. Ian Christman joined the VSA in February 2008 as Deputy Registrar and was appointed Registrar and Privacy Officer in March 2012.
Director of Finance and Operations – The Director of Finance and Operations directs the VSA’s financial operations. This includes human resources, facilities and risk management, asset management, and information technology. Ellen Laoha, CGA, joined the VSA in March 2012.
Director of Learning and Communications – The Director of Learning and Communications oversees certification courses and continuing education, consumer service activities and communications. Doug Longhurst joined the VSA in October 2006.
Compliance – The Compliance Department is responsible for a province-wide program of inspections and investigations. The department has a staff of eleven, including the Manager of Compliance, Daryl Dunn.
Licensing – The Licensing Department processes all licence applications and renewals for all dealers and salespeople. The department includes four Licensing Officers and the Manager of Licensing, Hong Wong.
Finance – The Finance Department handles accounts payable, payroll, banking and the general ledger, in addition to the preparation of draft monthly income statements. The department has a staff of two.
Administration – The Administration Department supports all departments and senior staff, in addition to reception duties. The department has a staff of four, including the Executive Administrative Assistant who also provides support to the President and Board of Directors.
Learning – The Learning Department provides the salesperson certification and continuing education courses. Approximately 50 classroom and all online sessions are presented each year by a staff of two, with the assistance of two contract facilitators.
Communications – In addition to managing the VSA website, Communications produces regular industry bulletins and works with the Consumer Services staff on consumer awareness activities. The Communications Coordinator is supported by the director, other VSA staff members and contract support, as needed.
Consumer Services – The Consumer Services Department assesses and prepares all consumer enquiries, complaints and Compensation Fund claims for investigation or referral. There are three Consumer Services Officers and the Manager of Consumer Services, Anna Gershkovich.
